Dharmasthala Nithyananda Nagar Sai

Jai Sai Ram

The Saibaba shrine in Nithyananda Nagar, Dharmasthala was my 80th visit in October 2011.

Shree Rama Kshethra is situated about 67KM away from the coastal town of Mangalore. The place is noteworthy for its scenic beauty. The tall places of Western ghats majestically overlook the wooded scenary in which the temple complex is located. Close by, the sacred river Nethravathy , quenching the thirst to millions of people and irrigating thousands acre of land.

The nearest railway station is Kankanady, Mangalore and the nearest airport is also in Mangalore. From Mangalore there are abundant bus and taxi facilities are also available to visit sacred Rama Kshethra.

Shri Shri Shri Athmananda Saraswathi Swamiji is the founder of this magnificent temple Complex. He is the disciple of Shri Nithyananda swamiji. Shri Athmananda Saraswathi swamiji served his master at 'Ganeshpuri in Thane' district of MUMBAI FROM 1937 to 1961. (Until Shri Nithyananda Swamiji attained Samadhi.)

During the association with his master, his GURU had expressed his wish to shri Athmananda Saraswathi Swamiji to have a 'Rama' temple constructed in Dharmasthala village. Thus at the behest of his master, Shri Athmananda Saraswathi Swamiji came to Dharmasthala village in 1969 and made efforts to fulfil the wishes ofhis master.

He got this site on donation from " Shri Soorya Narayana RaoDondole, who was the Shanubhag (village accountant) of Shri Dharmasthala Kshethra in1971. He got a small thatched building constructed in which he started "Bhagavan Shri Nithyananda Mandir". "Soon devotees started gathering at the mandir. "Rama Bhajana Sapthaha" is conducted here everyyear for seven days culminating in the grand festival of "Shri Rama Navami".

Thousands of devotees of Shri Rama from far and near have come to gather here and chanting the Rama Taraka Mantra dancing around the"Nanda Deepa" .The foundation for the present Sri Rama temple was laid by Shri ShriShiva Balayogi Maharaj of Bangalore in 1978 and the main deity is Shri Rama along with there are 36 different deities installed under the same roof and the most special one is Nava Durge shrines.
